BioHank McCoy was born in Illinois almost forty years ago, and is still not dead. After a classic farm boy childhood and a football scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he managed to stay at college so long that they gave him a PhD in Biochemistry to get him to go away. Since then he has made a comfortable life by turning up at science conventions and the more well-funded of the nation's campuses and taking advantage of any free buffets on offer, occasionally writing a book or article when the rent collectors begin to threaten.
Dr McCoy is the author of four books and seventeen published papers, the titles of which are all far too boring to be listed here. He's an unashamed geek, and takes considerable pride (to the point of insisting that it be mentioned in the blurb here) in the fact that in the year 2002 he patented more items of computer hardware than the Microsoft Corporation. He wouldn't call the income from these a living, but they at least cover the costs of his regular mountain-climbing holidays in the Himalayas.
He currently lives alone except for his dog, Sassafras, but only until Jada Pinkett Smith comes to her senses.
